I made an emergency kit for my house and included this in it. I live in the woods and power goes out occasionally. My daughter is little and gets scared in the dark so I opted for this. I especially love that it can charge cell phones. Fortunately I have never had to actually use it but I feel better knowing I have it. I like not having to worry about batteries, the crank feature seems to work great. It is smaller than I expected but I am very happy with the quality.

I made a box and put this item in it along with many other things including a pack of new batteries, one LED flashlight per person in my house. A can opener. Candles. Matches. Playing cards. A small chess game. And I have my first aid kit nearby. I also have a small camping lantern in it.

Haven't had to use this yet but the time will come here in Texas. The lights are bright, the radio works fine and the cell phone charger gives about 2 minutes worth of energy for 20 minutes of turning. That's enough to make an emergency call. It's light weight and compact in size so it won't take up a lot of room in your car. Just check the batteries every six months just to be sure they are working okay.

Pretty versatile and handy! I have one but I had to send one to my mom too, who thought it was a good idea to listen to the car radio for weather updates during tornado warnings. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with an adapter to charge from an outlet. My mom sits it in her window to keep it solar-charged and that seems to work well. The hand crank takes a lot of energy to get it charged, but it's doable. I'm just afraid I'll rip that crank off, it feels so cheap. I haven't tried charging my phone with it, but the instructions say it will charge a phone only long enough for a 1-2 minute phone call, so there's that. But you still get the flashlight, radio, siren, and red-flashing light. So I can say it is a good purchase that you hope you never need.

When I got this thing, I almost laughed out loud at how much stuff they packed into it. Solar panel and hand crank for power generation. AM/FM radio. Flashlight. Emergency beacon. Alarm. USB port for charging a cell phone. I wish I had been on the design team - that would've been a lot of fun. The only thing missing is a soda dispenser.

Well, if you're looking for one small, cheap, lightweight device that will give you light, radio, emergency beacon, and in a pinch an ability to get a few % of cell phone charging, then ... here it is. Period.

I do have a higher end version of this type of device, which was more than twice as expensive. It's more rugged than this one, and has a few feature this doesn't (but no beacon). So, if you want one of these for general emergency preparedness, this is not the only option you have. But for basic low-budget multi-functional capability, this thing is GREAT.

PS Don't be naive, though, you can't crank it a few times to charge a cell phone. Be prepared to put in some elbow grease for that

Wow! This is a lot smaller than I thought but don’t let that fool you! I didn’t even have to crank it and the radio works amazing the siren is amazing the flashlight is bright it charges up a phone this is going to be another life saving tool to have during hurricane season! I highly recommend this for campers and people who live in areas that might lose power during any weather conditions.

For use in an emergency. The flashlight is not very bright but is functional. The radio sounds terrible but picks up more than the closest station. This part of the product could use improving. Cell phone charging port comes with several adapters. There is a built-in battery which is a significant improvement over previous designs which required you to crank the handle almost constantly. The solar charging is a nice feature but it is low power. The crank works immediately to provide juice and charge the internal battery.

I gave this as a gift to my adult son to leave in his vehicle as part of an emergency kjt. He loves it. He played with cranking it and making the radio work, the lights come on, and exploring what else it can do like charge a cell phone. A few days later when we were on the phone he mentioned again how he really likes it. It is attratice, fun and really works. It was a winner for an adult son who could buy himself anything. I'll have to get my daughter one too!

I bought it for the hubby and he was really surprised at what he got! He really like it. We picked up a signal without a problem only after cranking it a few times. He is super excited to use it while working on one of his construction jobs or when we go camping. My 13 year-old was jealous! She wants one for when we go camping so she can charge her phone!
The flashlight is super bright, the siren is loud, and the blinking emergency light should come in handy (hopefully we never need it) in case of an emergency.
It's super lightweight and compact so you don't have to lug it around everywhere. It is quite ergonomic and it seriously won me some huge points with my hubby. He thought it was a very thoughtful gift. :)
