I decided to buy a trail camera to capture some of the wildlife around my house, both human and animals. I already have security cameras that work great but require direct power and must be in range of my wireless router. After comparing camera features and prices I went with the WiMiUS Hunting Trail Camera.
The WiMiUS Hunting Trail Camera and included accessories arrived in good condition and all seem to be of good quality. The camouflage on the front cover is well done and looks nice. And the 2 hinges that secure the front cover open and close easily. The o-ring seal on the main camera body that seals the front cover looks like it is up to the job. The back cover for the battery compartment also looks well sealed. Removing this cover was a little difficult at first, but I removed and reinstalled it with no issues.
Setting up the camera was a lot easier than I imagined it would be (I didn't have to use the manual). First I installed 8 AA batteries and then inserted a 32gb Micro SD card. (These are not included with the camera.) After that I switched the slide switch from "Off" to "Test" and a colored LCD screen lit up bringing up all the settings and options. (The LCD is bright and clear.)
Beside the LCD screen there are only 4 buttons. A menu button, an up button, a down button, and an OK button. After clicking the menu button it was easy to scroll through each of the settings and prepare this camera for use.

As you can see there are plenty of options, most are self explanatory and they are all easy to change and set. And once the initial settings are complete you can leave as is or choose to come back and make changes. It took me about 5 minutes to initially set up the camera for use.
Once the set-up is complete I slid the switch on the side to the "On" position and a red LED started flashing and with a 15 second countdown showing on the LCD. Basically the camera gives you 15 seconds after turning it on to close the camera and position the camera before it starts recording. (If you're slow like me you'll probably get a few recordings of yourself and the ground, but no big deal.)
With the camera set to the "On" position you have the options to either sit this camera on a flat object, strap it to a tree or post (strap is include), mount it to a camera tripod, or mount it using the supplied mount. You then simply leave it be and come back later to see what was captured.
To view your recordings you can leave the camera mounted and open up the front latched to access the control buttons and LCD screen. You can then scroll through the pictures and/or videos, hitting the "OK" button to play the video. If anything of interest was recorded you then can either remove the Micro SD card for playback on your computer or tablet or remove the camera and hook it up to your TV for full screen viewing.
So far the camera does an excellent job of capturing the goings on around my house and the pictures and videos are very clear. (The first night of use it captured a coyote patrolling my back fence looking for dinner.) The no-glow LEDs are as advertised and are not visible at night but do a good job of illuminating detected objects in total darkness.
I've just started using this camera so after some use I will provide an update to this review as well as some captured video and pictures.

The combination picture and video mode is a great bonus. The viewing screen is another selling point. It can be used to view images and video captured plus it really comes in handy for seeing just exactly where the camera is aimed. Set up was a breeze and both daytime and night time picture and videos were better than expected. I could see myself getting a few more of these. My only complaint is it doesn't accept standard sd cards.

I don't know why this camera has some poor reviews. It works great and is high quality. The menu is simple and easy to use. The picture quality is crisp and clear and everything works great!
